30, Sunday. Dr. Mor Severios inaugurated the Elders' Forum Meet. Fr.

Ecumenical worship of Denmark held at Copenhagen Fr. Eldhose
Vattaparambil participated representing the Syrian Orthodox Church
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK: One of the
biggest ecumenical worship in the history of Denmark was held at
Copenhagen on 25th of Jan 2011. The worship was named as `Church
Travel in City´. Bishops, priests and layman belonging to different
Churches in Denmark took part in the procession and Prayers as a
part of the program. Rev. Fr. Eldose Vattaparambil, Vicar of St.
Mary's J S O Church, Denmark participated in the worship
representing the Syrian Orthodox Church along with Lutheran, Roman
Catholic, Russian Orthodox, Jerusalem Methodist, Coptic Orthodox,
Ukrainian Orthodox, Anglican and Swedish Churches. This was the 57th
year of Ecumenical celebration in Denmark.

Hallelujah.
We praise Our Lord, the Almighty having favoured us with a small
piece of land registered for us today. We seek the intercession of
Mother Mary for praying abundantly for us to have a small church on
this land in Her blessed name.
We wholeheartedly thank each and every one who have contributed so
far to our church project as well as to our Karunya Foundation,
Vadodara's charity works especially our Mumbai Diocesan Council and
H.E Eusebios Thirumeni and HE Aphrem Cyril Thirumeni (US) for
offering all the support. We also thank you the land owner Mr.
Parekh bhai for having allowed us such a long period even beyond the
agreement to pay the complete amount.
Today we are registering a plot of 2520 sq.ft and the total cost for
the same is 22 lacs. With great difficulty and prolonged period only
and of course with the open hearted faithful who contributed for
this noble cause we could achieve this. As on date we are having
debt of more than 1 lakh.
With all humbleness we seek the help from every member of our Syriac
Church to build a small and beautiful church so that our faithful
can freely worship our LORD. As most of you know Baroda / Vadodara
is a fastest growing City and is the cultural capital of Gujarat.
People from all over the world are coming here to study at the
famous M.S university and seek jobs here in this industrial belt. In
the coming times our proposed church will definitely be a shelter to
all our people who come to this city.

DAMASCUS/MANJANIKKARA: Archbishop Mor Theophilose
George Saliba - Metropolitan of Mount Lebanon & Secretary of the
Holy Synod, HG Mor Clemis Daniel Kourieh - Metropolitan of Beirut
and HG Mor Philaxinos Mathias Nayis - Patriarchal Assistant &
Director of St. Ephraim Seminary will participate in the 79th
Dukhrono of St. Ignatius Elias III Bava at Manjanikkara as delegates
of His Holiness Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas Patriarch, informed the
press release from St. Ignatius Dayaro - Manjanikkara. The
'Dukhrono' will be held from February 6th to 12th. Mor Dionysius
Geevarghese - the Metropolitan of Simhasana Churches and Abbot of
St. Ignatius Dayaro and Mor Athanasius Geevarghese - Asst.
Metropolitan of Simhasana Churches informed that all arrangements
for the reception of the pilgrims and the Patriarchal delegates have
been completed. The Patriarchal delegates will be received at
Omalloor Shrine on Feb 11th under the leadership of the ' Dukhrono
celebrations Committee' and St. Stephen's J S O Cathedral,
Manjanikkara. Later, the Patriarchal delegates will bless and
receive the pilgrims reaching Manjanikkara from different parts of
Malankara on foot. The Patriarchal delegates will participate in the
'Pilgrims Convention' on Feb 11th evening and in the Holy Tri - Mass
on Feb 12th at 08.30 am.
Feb 6, Sunday will be celebrated as the 'Patriarchal Flag Day'. The
Metropolitans informed that, on that day, the Patriarchal Flag
should be hoisted in all Churches in Malankara. On that day, a Holy
Tri - Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Dayaro Church by HG
Mor Meletius Yuhanon, HG Mor Athanasius Geevarghese & HG Mor
Theodosius Mathews. The Patriarchal Flag will be hoisted at St.
Ignatius Dayaro in the morning and at the Omalloor Shrine later in
the evening.

Zone conducted J. S. V. B. S - 2011 at St. Mary's JSO Church,
Ahmedabad from Jan 14th to 16th
AHAMEDABAD: Gujarat Zone of the Mumbai Diocese of
the Jacobite Syrian Church conducted a J.S.V.B.S. for 3 days during
the Uttarayan Holidays from 14th January to 16th January. Rev. Fr.
Dr. C.P. Varghese of Baroda Parish inaugurated the JSVBS on 14th
January after the Holy Qurbana. Balloons carrying “JSVBS 2011” and
kites were flown to the sky jointly by Rev. Fr. Dr. C.P. Varghese,
Rev. Fr. John Mathai and Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Kollannur.
Children and teachers from all the Parishes of Gujarat viz. Surat,
Baroda, Kutch and Ahmedabad participated in the program conducted
under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Kollannur and assisted by
Mr. Georgy K Roy from Manarcad, Kottayam. Besides routine classes
and activities, various cultural programs, camp fire, and
competitions were organized for the benefit of all the participants.
The VBS concluded by Sunday evening with a grand rally by all the
participants where they carried placards, shouted slogans and
chanted hymns. In the cultural meeting that followed children
showcased their versatile talents in the competitions held and
prizes were distributed. The overall championship was won by Master
Shalin Punnose of Baroda parish. St Mary’s Church, Baroda won the
trophy for the best church edging St. Mary’s Church, Ahmedabad
through a lot as both parishes were tied at 45 points each. The
penultimate place went to St. Mary’s Church, Kutch followed by the
kids from St. Mary’s Church, Surat.
A tree was planted in the premise of the Church to help the children
remember JSVBS 2011, the first of the sort for most of them.

Beatitude Ieronymos-II, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece
visits the Holy father

SAYYIDNAYA, SYRIA: On the evening of Tuesday 25 January 2011,
His Beatitude Ieronymos-II, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece
and the accompanying delegation were given a warm welcome at the St.
Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Monastery in Ma’arat Saydinnya, Damascus. His
Holiness Ignatius Zakka-I Iwas the Patriarch of Antioch & All the
East and the supreme head of the Universal Syriac Church, along with
the Metropolitans and clergy of the holy Church received the
delegation at the Monastery hall. Later the delegation was welcomed
to the St. Peter & St. Paul’s Cathedral where a special meeting was
convened in honour of the visiting Archbishop. His Excellency Dr.
Mohammed Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed , Minister of Awqaf (Religious
Endowments) who arrived there on a special invitation from His
Holiness was accompanied by a galaxy of Muslim scholars and
directors of various institutions and colleges in Damascus. The
Ambassador of Greece to Damascus, bishops and heads of Christian
communities in Damascus, and some of the elders of the Syriac
community in Damascus also participated in the meeting. Speaking on
the occasion, the Minister H.E. Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed
recalled the significant role of Syria in building the human
civilization adding to its prosperity. The Minister highlighted the
importance of spreading the culture of dialogue and exchange of
ideas and strengthening the concept of religious fraternity and its
role in spreading peace, security and stability in the world.
Welcoming the delegation His Holiness the Patriarch emphasized the
importance of the visit of Archbishop Ieronymos II in activating
warm relations between the churches in Syria and Greece. His
Holiness requested for further cooperation between the Churches so
that wider ecumenical forum can be formed. Archbishop Ieronymos II,
in turn, agreed with Patriarch on the significance of enhancing
dialogue and sharing ideas between the churches in the two countries
in a spirit of amity to serve the interests of their friendly
peoples. H.B. also recalled the historical relations between the two
Churches and stressed the need for continuous interaction.

CHENNAI: The General Body Meeting of Mylapore Diocese was
held at St. George Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Avadi on
26th January 2011 and was presided by H.G. Mor Osthatheos Ishaq,
Asst. Metropolitian of Mylapore Diocese. The meeting was
attended by Vicars, Council Members and representatives from all
parishes of the diocese. Fr K J John welcomed His Grace, Vicars
and members of the general body. Fr. Aby Alias, Secretary read
the annual report of diocese and Shri K Babu Varghese, Treasurer
read the accounts of the diocese. Mor Osthatheos, in his
presidential address informed the members that two churches in
Avadi and Kelambakkam was constructed and completed to start
Holy Qurbono in a short period of one year. Plans were also to
start service centre in Adayar (Chennai), Chidambaram and
Hyderabad. His Grace sought the cooperation and support of all
church and its members in growth and development of Mylapore
Diocese. It was also decided in the meeting that Diocese will
take a lead in coordinating admission to Colleges and
Institutions in Tamil Nadu for the benefit of students from our
parishes in Kerala. His Grace also presented Memento to Fr. T M
Mathews who completed 25 years of priesthood. Fr. Aby Alias read
vote of thanks and the meeting was concluded with prayers.

first Holy Mass of Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Congregation in
Malaysia was held at Anglican Church, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
H.G Mor Osthatheos Pathrose celebrated the Holy Qurbono
and blessed the congregation. After appointed as the Patriarchal
Vicar of Kingdom of Bahrain, Singapore and Malaysia by H.H
Ignatius Zakka Iwas I, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and
H.B Mor Baselios Thomas I Catholicos, this was His Grace’s first
visit to Malaysia. Faithful from different parts of Malaysia and
from Singapore Parish took part in the service. His Grace

Metropolitan His Grace Mor Osthatheos Ishaq consecrated new Church
under Mylapore Diocese, in the name of St. Mary, the Mother of God
in Kelampakam, Chennai on January 22, Saturday. Mor Osthatheos
celebrated Holy Qurbono on Jan 23, Sunday, assisted by Fr. T M
Mathews and Rev. Dr. George Varghese. Fr. T M Mathews is appointed
as the vicar for the new church. There will be service in the new
Church on every other Sunday. The Morning prayer starts at 8 AM and

Parishes held in New Jersey
NEW JERSEY:
St. Paul's Prayer fellowship, the Spiritual Organization of the
Malankara Archdiocese in North America has organized the 5th Joint
Christmas and New Year Celebrations of the Parishes in New York, New
Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington Region held on Saturday, January
8th at the St. Demetrius Banquet Center , Carteret,New Jersey near
St. George Syrian Orthodox Church. Archbishop His Eminence Mor Titus
Yeldho Metropolitan, the Patriarchal Vicar and Archbishop of the
Malankara Archdiocese delivered a Christmas and New-Year message on
the occasion.
The Public meeting began at 9:00AM in which Fr. Jose Daniel (Vice
President of St. Paul's Fellowship) welcomed the gathering and the
Archbishop inaugurated the celebrations. Fr. Geevarghese Chattathil
(Vice President of Association for the Protection of Antiochean True
Faith), Chevalier Abraham Mathew (Archdiocesan Treasurer),
Archdiocesan Council members Shri. Cherian Venkadathu, Chicago,
Chevalier Varghese Parambath and Shri. George Ittan Padiyedathu
delivered the felicitations. A variety of cultural programs included
Christmas Carols, group Dances, Skits and other attracting items
were performed by the participating parishes. Luncheon and snacks
also were served to all participants. Dn. Dr. Joel Jacob and Shri.
Jaijo Paulose were the masters of ceremony. Shri. Raju Abraham, the
program coordinator move on the vote of thanks and Shri. Biju
Cherian served as stage coordinator. Several faithful from all
parishes within the region were attended the day long programs.

BANGALORE: India's software major Wipro Ltd
Friday announced the appointment of T.K. Kurien (TK)
as the chief executive officer (CEO) of its global
IT business and executive director of the company.
TK runs some of the critical growth engines in the
organization's overall business plans. He has led
multiple initiatives in various capacities including
being the Chief Executive of Wipro's Healthcare &
Life Sciences business, and the Telecom Service
Provider business. He was adjudged the BPO CEO of
the year by IQPC in 2007.
TK is a member of the Wipro Corporate Executive
Council.
Before joining Wipro, TK served as the CEO of GE X
Ray from October 1997 to January 2000 and prior to
that was the CFO of GE Medical Systems (South Asia).

Let Jacobites build church at Parumala - Joint
Christian Council
KOCHI:
The
Joint Christian Council has said that the Jacobite
Church should be allowed to build its own church on a
plot of land close to the St. Peter's and Paul's church
at Parumala. A statement issued by the Council here on
Sunday said that the move to prevent the Jacobite group
from building its own church on land it had bought close
to the present church should be condemned. The statement
also said that the Jacobite-Orthodox feud was the result
of machinations by vested interests, which wanted to
control the riches of the church.
THIRUVALLA:
The week for Church Unity, jointly organized by the World Council of
Churches and the Pontifical Council for Church Unity, Vatican was
observed at St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Mazhuvangadu,
Tiruvalla on 20th January, Thursday. Geevarghese Mor Themotheos of Malankara
Catholic Church inaugurated the prayer meeting. Rt. Rev. Dr. Sam
Mathew delivered the message and Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese of the
Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church presided over the meeting which was

Coorilos Geevarghese along with Very Rev.
Dr. Kuriakose Moolayil Corepiscopa visited the
"Theeram" centre in Cheemeni, an Endosulfan
affected area in Kasargodu district. They spent
a day with the mentally challenged children and
their parents. Mor Coorilos also inaugurated a
seminar on Endosulfan and it's Evil Effects. Dr.
Kuriakose Moolayil Corepiscopa, Director of
Theeram presided over the meeting and Mr. Aneesh
Kumar delivered the key note address. Several
members of the Panchayat and leaders of
Merchant's Association participated in the
seminar. New year gifts for the children were
also distributed.
19th Dukhrono of Late lamented
Mor Theophilose Thomas
Mor Theophilose Thomas of Blessed memory was the first
metropolitan of the Outside Kerala diocese of the
Jacobite Syrian Orthodox church.
In
the 1970's, during the split, when most of the churches
which were built by the combined efforts of both the
factions were occupied by the Metran kakshis, the
faithful of JSOC had to leave those churches. It was Fr.
Thomas Moothedam who gave strong leadership to the
Jacobite faithful in the Outside Kerala diocese during
that critical period in the history of our church. He
gave able leadership to the faithful and took lead in
establishing new churches and through his vision and
efforts, defeated the ugly designs of Metran Kakshis
through which they tried to swallow the Jacobites.
When the necessity arose to ordain a full time Bishop
for the Outside Kerala diocese taking into consideration
its growth, the church had no doubts about who that
should be. Rev. Thomas Moothedam Rambachan, who had
taken leadership in establishing most of the churches
there, was elected to lead the Outside Kerala Diocese
which was in it infancy at that time. He was ordained as
'Mor Theophilose' by Late Lamented Mor Baselios Paulose
II Catholicose of blessed memory on 19th April, 1979 at
St. Simon's JSO Church, Velloor. Mor Themotheos Yakoub
and Mor Ivanios Philipose were ordained along with him.
After leading the Outside Kerala Diocese for 13 years
with dedication, His Grace entered his Heavenly abode on
Jan 12th, 1992. It was through Thirumeni's efforts, St.
Peter's JSO Cathedral, New delhi - the Eastern Cathedral
of His Holiness, which is the pride of Jacobites in
Delhi, was established. Mor Theophilose is entombed in
MSOT seminary Chapel, Mulanthuruthy. May his prayers be
our fort.
THRIPPUNITHURA: Feast of intercession of St. Mary for seeds
started at Morth Mariyam JSO Church, Nadamel on January 12,
Wednesday. Metropolitan Mor Gregorios Joseph hoisted the flag. Vicar
Very Rev. Geevarghese Thomas Kandathil Cor Episcopa, Fr. Shammy
John, Fr. Darly Edappangattil and hundreds of faithful were present. Mor

The Consecration of the newly constructed Headquarters of the Thumpamon Diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church will be
held on Jan 15th & 16th. The new Diocesan Headquarters has been
constructed at Thykuttimukku between Manjanikkara and Omalloor.

Edinburgh Ecumenical Meeting at Thiruvalla. His Grace Dr. Joseph

Kerala Region Chairman Shri. V C Sabu presided over. The meeting
gave a send off to the retired Bishop Dr. Thomas Samuel of CSI.

Celebrations with His Holiness in Damascus
DAMASCUS: Mor
Gregorios Joseph, Mor Ivanios Mathews, Mor Aphrem Mathews and Mor
Coorilos Geevarghese from Kerala along with Bar Eatho Breero Dr.
Babu Paul IAS had the rare privilege of celebrating the New Year
2011 with the Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church,
Moran Mor Iganatius Zakka I Iwas at the Patriarchal Aramana in
Damascus. His Holiness had dinner with bishops, clergy and relatives
in the New Year's Eve and cut the New Year Cake. His Holiness also
enjoyed the singing of Syriac and Malayalam songs by bishops,
clergy, nuns and lay people. New Year gifts were also distributed.
For every one who attended the celebrations, it was the most blessed
experience to end the year 2010 and to begin the new year 2011 in
the Holy presence and with Apostolic blessings of His Holiness, the
Patriarch of Antioch and all the East. Rev. Fr. Aji Karimpanackal
(Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs) also was present for the
occasion.

Mor Titus Yeldho Metropolitan in
his speech to the congregation mentioned the remarkable
spiritual progress the parish gained in its first year and

Action Christian Leaders Forum (Wayanad Dist) held here and decided
to come up with the awareness classes in schools and colleges
against the usage of Alcohol and Drugs. The meeting felicitated Fr
Dr Jacob Michael Puliyattel who was awarded doctorate for
Theological studies. The meeting elects Fr Dr Jacob
Michael Puliyattel as Chairman and Dr V.M Jose as the general
