കൊച്ചി: ക്രൈസ്തവ സഭയിലെ തര്‍ക്കങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പരിഹാരം കാണാന്‍ മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥ ഫോറങ്ങള്‍ രൂപവത്കരിക്കണമെന്ന് ജസ്റ്റിസ് സിറിയക്ക് തോമസ് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു. ജസ്റ്റിസ് വര്‍ഗീസ് കള്ളിയത്ത് അനുസ്മരണ സമ്മേളനത്തിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് നടത്തിയ ' സഭയിലെ തര്‍ക്കങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പരിഹാരം അനുരഞ്ജനത്തിലൂടെ ' എന്ന സെമിനാറില്‍ സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. കലൂര്‍ പോണോത്ത് റോഡിലെ ല്യൂമെന്‍-ജ്യോതിസ്സ് സെന്ററില്‍ ന്യൂമാന്‍ അസ്സോസിയേഷന്‍ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയാണ് പരിപാടി സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചത്.
ഇടവകയംഗങ്ങള്‍, സോഷ്യല്‍ വര്‍ക്കര്‍മാര്‍, കൗണ്‍സിലര്‍മാര്‍, അധികാരികള്‍ എന്നിവരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥ ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ നടക്കേണ്ടത്. ആവശ്യമെങ്കില്‍ വക്കീലന്‍മാരേയും, ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടയാളുകളേയും കൊണ്ടു വരാനുള്ള അനുമതി കൂടി കക്ഷികള്‍ക്കു നല്‍കുവാന്‍ തയ്യാറാകണമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥ ചര്‍ച്ചയ്ക്കായി ഇടവക, ജില്ലാ, രൂപത, സംസ്ഥാന തലത്തില്‍ മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥ സമിതിയാണ് ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടത് -അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. സ്വഭാവ ശുദ്ധിയിലും, പെരുമാറ്റത്തിലും മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് മാത്യകയായിരുന്നു ജസ്റ്റിസ് വര്‍ഗീസ് കള്ളിയത്തെന്ന് പരിപാടി ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്ത ജസ്റ്റീസ് പയസ് കുര്യാക്കോസ് പറഞ്ഞു. അസ്സോസ്സിയേഷന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് മാത്യൂ ജോസഫ് മൂഴിയില്‍ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച ചടങ്ങില്‍, അഡ്വ. ജോസഫ് തേറാട്ടില്‍ അനുസ്മരണ പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി.

WCC AGAPE Global Forum Concludes in Bogor, Indonesia; H.G. Dr Geevarghese Mor Coorilos Participates as Resource Person

BOGOR/INDONESIA: The World Council of Churches organized AGAPE Global Forum on Poverty, Wealth and Ecology in Bogor, Indonesia from 18-23 June, 2012. The Forum brought together around 100 theologians, church leaders, social activists, students and youth from various countries. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese made a panel presentation on Biblical and Theological Reflections on Poverty, Wealth and Ecology and Church's Response. The Forum came up with a Statement called "Towards an Economy of Life in God's Justice" which will be presented to the WCC Assembly to be held in Busan next year.

യാക്കോബായ സുറിയാനി സഭ ഇടുക്കി ഭദ്രാസനത്തിന്റെ താല്‍ക്കാലിക ചുമതല മൂവാറ്റുപുഴ മേഖല മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്തയായ അഭി.മാത്യൂസ്‌ മോര്‍ അന്തിമോസിനു നല്‍കി. ആരോപണ വിധേയനായ കുര്യാക്കോസ്‌ മോര്‍ ക്ലീമിസിനെ ഇടുക്കി ഭദ്രാസനാധിപ സ്‌ഥാനത്തുനിന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം നീക്കിയിരുന്നു. ഇന്നലെ കട്ടപ്പനയില്‍ നടന്ന ഇടുക്കി ഭദ്രാസന പള്ളി പ്രതിപുരുഷ യോഗത്തിലാണു ശ്രേഷ്‌ഠ കാതോലിക്ക ബസേലിയോസ്‌ തോമസ്‌ പ്രഥമന്‍ ബാവ മാത്യൂസ്‌ മോര്‍ അന്തിമോസിനു താല്‍ക്കാലിക ചുമതല നല്‍കിയത്‌.
17 പള്ളികളില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ട്രസ്‌റ്റിമാര്‍ യോഗത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. കത്തിപ്പാറ, നാരകക്കാനം, ഇടുക്കി പള്ളികളില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ട്രസ്‌റ്റിമാര്‍ എഴുതി തയാറാക്കിയ സഭയും മുന്‍ മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്തയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ചോദ്യങ്ങള്‍ ഭദ്രാസന സെക്രട്ടറി ഫാ. ജോണ്‍ പഞ്ഞിക്കാട്ടില്‍ ശ്രേഷ്‌ഠ ബാവയ്‌ക്കു കൈമാറി. കുര്യാക്കോസ്‌ മോര്‍ ക്ലീമിസ്‌ മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്തയുടെ പരാമര്‍ശങ്ങളെത്തുടര്‍ന്നു വിശ്വാസികള്‍ക്കിടയിലുണ്ടായ പ്രതിസന്ധികള്‍ക്കു പരിഹാരമായതായും മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്തയോടൊപ്പം നിന്ന ചിലരാണ്‌ പൊതുജനങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ തെറ്റിദ്ധാരണ പടര്‍ത്തിയതെന്നും ഭദ്രാസന സെക്രട്ടറി പറഞ്ഞു.
മോര്‍ ക്ലീമിസ്‌ വരുത്തിവച്ച ബാധ്യത അദ്ദേഹവുമായി സംസാരിച്ച്‌ ഘട്ടം ഘട്ടമായി പരിഹരിക്കുമെന്നും ഭദ്രാസന സെക്രട്ടറി ഫാ. ജോണ്‍ പഞ്ഞിക്കാട്ടില്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. ചുമതലകളില്‍ നിന്നു നീക്കിയ മോര്‍ ക്ലീമിസ്‌ ഇപ്പോള്‍ കോട്ടയം തൂത്തൂട്ടി മാര്‍ ഗ്രിഗോറിയോസ്‌ ധ്യാന കേന്ദ്രത്തിലാണ്‌.

KOLKATA: H.G. Isaac Mor Osthathious, metropolitan of Delhi & Mylapore Dioceses visited St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Chruch in Kolkata on 17th June 2012 Sunday. H.G Offered Holy Qurbana  was assisted by the Member Priest, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) K. P. Aleaz, who is also the senior most Professor of Bishops College in Kolkata, and Rev. Dn. Mathew from the St. George Jacobite Church, Adimally. Rev. Dn. Mathew has just joined the Kolkata Bishops College for his M. Th. programme in Religion.

His Grace also felicitated Mrs. & Mr. T.A. Abraham, one of the senior members of the Parish, on their 50th Wedding Anniversary. His Grace called upon the members of the Parish to take example of Mrs. & Mr. Abraham for all their good deeds. As a token of appreciation of the Parish, His Grace presented Mrs. & Mr. Abraham a shawl on the occasion.

Immediately after the Holy Qurbono, the Metropolitan also met the office bearers of the spiritual organisations such as Sunday School and Marthamariam Vanitha Samajam and also the members of the Managing Committee and reviewed their activities. His Grace called upon the members to seriously think of taking up some social activities as it is the responsibility of the Church to serve the poor and needy people in whatever manner it is possible. His Grace also reminded the members that since Kolkata Parish is the only Church of the Jacobite Syrian Christians in Eastern India, the parish should take all possible initiatives in this directio

H.G. Issac Mor Osthathious visited the tomb of Mother Teresa

KOLKATA:During the recent visit to Kolkata, His Grace Issac Mor Osthatheose, the Metropolitan of Delhi & Mylapore Dioceses visited the Mother House where the tomb of Blessed Mother Teresa is situated. His Grace had detailed discussions about the various activities of the Missioneries of Charity with the sisters including the Sister in-charge of the Home. Apart from visiting the Tomb, His Grace also made a round in the entire Mother House including the bed room of Blessed Mother Teresa.

Metropolitan Aboon Dr. Mor Theophilus Kuriakose celebrated Holy Qurbono in Amsterdam Holland

AMSTERDAM/HOLLAND:It was a weekend of great joy for the Christians in Amsterdam to have welcomed H.G. Dr. Kuriakose Mor Theophilose who is on a trip to Europe. He spend 3 days in Amsterdam from 15th June to 17th June and left to Enschade (Syriac Orthodox Monastery, Holland) on Monday. From there Thirumeni will leave to Germany. During his short stay in Amsterdam, Metroplitan lead a prayer meeting on 16th at one of the faithful's home and was the chief celebrant for the Holy Qurbono on 17th at the church in Amsterdam. The Holy Qurbono was attended by both the Kerala Christians and the Syrian Christians in The Netherlands. It was a heavenly grace to hear both the Syriac and Malayalam choir groups singing Holy Qurbono songs alternatively with magnificent synchronization. Very Rev. Raban Saliba Antonios and the deacons of the church participated in the Holy Qurbono. In the evening, during a public gathering at the church hall, the Syriac and Malayalam choir groups sang christian songs and was a unique opportunity for all people to meet and greet the Metroplitan.

One day Workshop for Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Portal held at Bangalore

BANGALORE:A day long workshop on the feautures and model of a Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Portal was held in the St. Ignatius Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, K.R. Puram, Bangalore yesterday. Youth members from several Jacobite churches in Bangalore attended the workshop which gave stress to collecting information, editing, compilation and writing styles for the purpose of online publishing. The Bangalore diocesan metropolitan H.G. Pathrose Mor Osthathios gave an introduction to the workshop and elaborated the need for a Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Portal in this era of technological innovations. Priests of the diocese and youth members came together in a unique exercise which is set to continue in the future as well. Immediate brain storming, collecting and validation of information, distribution of work and transparent decision making were all possible under one roof. Such an initiative also offers a hitherto untested model of governance in the church. The unique undertaking is a coming together of tradition and technology and aims at including the aspirations and needs of the old and new members of the church. Such an initiative is a first in the church in terms of planning and executing. The ambitious project has many uniqe features and has already been discussed in the Holy Synod of the church.

പുത്തന്‍കുരിശില്‍ യൂത്ത് അസോസിയേഷന് ആസ്ഥാന മന്ദിരം "ന്യൂക്കെസ്ത്തോ ദാലൈയ്മേ സുറിയോയെ" (Syrian Youth Centre) പണിയുവാന്‍ യോഗം തീരുമാനിച്ചു.മന്ദിരത്തിന്റെ പ്ലാന്‍ യോഗം അംഗീകരിച്ചു.സെപ്.14 നു ശ്രേഷ്ഠ കാതോലിയ്ക്കാ ആബൂന്‍ മോര്‍ ബസേലിയോസ് തോമസ്‌ പ്രഥമന്‍ ബാവ മന്ദിരത്തിന്റെ കല്ലിടീല്‍ കര്‍മ്മം നിര്‍വ്വഹിക്കും.പത്തംഗ നിര്‍മ്മാണ കമ്മിറ്റിയെയും തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.നിര്‍മ്മാണ ഫണ്ടിന്റെ കൂപ്പന്‍ വിതരണത്തിന്‍റെ ഉദ്ഘാടനം അഭി.മാത്യൂസ്‌ മോര്‍ തെവോദോസിയോസ് മെത്രാപ്പോലിത്ത പൂത്രിക്ക പള്ളി ട്രസ്റ്റി വി.പി കുര്യാക്കോസ് വെട്ടുകാട്ടിലിനു നല്‍കി നിര്‍വ്വഹിച്ചു. നാലു മേഖലകളിലായി പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്യാമ്പുകള്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുവാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.സഖറിയ മാത്യു കുണ്ടറയെ പരിസ്ഥിതി പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ ഏകോപിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി ചുമതല നല്‍കി. ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തെ ഇന്റര്‍ നാഷണല്‍ ക്യാമ്പ്‌ ഡിസംബര്‍ 29 നു പുത്തന്‍കുരിശില്‍ വച്ച് നടത്തുവാനും തീരുമാനിച്ചു.

Rev. Fr. Prince Mannathoor Awarded Doctorate in Church History

Rev. Fr. Prince Mannathoor, the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox European Diocesan priest, Vicar of Zurich, Basel (Switzerland), Rome (Italy), Florence (Italy) and Amsterdam (Netherlands) Churches, got Ph. D. in Church History from Pontifical Oriental University on 13th June 2012. Rev. Fr. Dr. Prince Mannathoor is the first person who did Ph. D. in Malankara Church History in the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church. He did Ph. D. under the guidance of V. Rev. Dr. Philip Luiser who is a famous scholar as well as an official authority of Church history department of Roman Catholic Church in Vatican.

Pontifical Oriental University is one of the famous Catholic universities in the world. Majority of the Metropolitans of the Syro Malabar and Syro Malankara Churches studied in this well known University. H.H. Bartholomew I of Constantinople (Ecumenical Patriarch), Mor Gregorious Yuhanna Ibrahim (Syriac Orthodox Church), Dr. Mathews Mar Severius, Dr. Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros (Indian Orthodox Church Methran Kakshi) are the former students of this University.

After completing B. D. Course Fr. Prince joined this university for M. Th. in 2007. In 2009 he passed out with 2nd Rank in M. Th. (Theology). Moreover he studied Italian Language from Roundine Cultural Institute, Florence and also studied German Language from Pontifical Damasceno College. In 2009 he joined Pontifical Anselmo Liturgical University and got Diploma in West Syrian Liturgy .

Rev. Fr. Dr. Prince started a lot of Jacobite Syrian congregations in various places of the Europe. He is an emerging personality in the field of Church History who is having potential knowledge about oriental churches. He is a gift orator frequently getting international acclaim. He published 7 books and a series of articles in various languages (Italian, English and Malayalam).

Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese Attends the WCC Conference on Diakonia in Colombo

COLOMBO: The World Council of Churches organised a Conference on The Theology of Diakonia for the 21st Century at Pegasus Reef Hotel in Colombo from 2-5 June 2012. About fifty theologians, activists and church leaders participated in the Conference which was jointly organised by the WCC programs on Diakonia and Solidarity, Just and Inclusive Communities and Mission and Evangelism. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese, Metropolitan of Niraanam diocese and Moderator of WCC Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) moderated the sessions on the Final Day of the Conference. The National Council of Churches in Sri Lanka hosted the Conference.

St. Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church Um Al-Zunar  was destructed because of heavy fight came under that region. The church is known as The Church of Mother of Belt, Um Al-Zunar Church. This Church is a historical one, built in year 59 AD. It holds in it the belt of St. Mary, which according to tradition St. Mary gave her belt to St. Thomas. In the 5th century a Syrian monk brought the belt to Homs. The church is now the Cathedral of the Syrian Orthodox Archdiocese of Homs and Hama. It is surrounded by the Church Orphanage building and the headquarter of Archbishop Selwanos Boutros Alnemah. There are seven churches in Homs, which came under heavy fighting and were destroyed.

POOTHAMKUTTY/ANGAMALY: As part of Charity Activities, school kits were distributed to economically poor school children at St.Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Church, Poothamkutty on 3rd June 2012. Vicar Rev.Fr. Alias Ipe Parackal led the dedication service and special prayers for the school children,education institutions and teachers ahead of the commencement of new academic year. Mr. P.M. Eldhose, the Sunday school head master together with the members of the spiritual organizations of the parish were at the forefront to make arrangements for such a fastidious programme.

PUTHENCRUZ:Mor Barnabas Geevarghese is appointed as assistant Metropolitan of Niranam diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Christian Church. His Eminence was the Metropolitan for the Dayroyo institutions in India. The decision was taken at the Holy Synod concluded on 26th May 2012. Mor Barnabas will assist Mor Koorilos Geevarghese on the administration of Niranam diocese.

ANNANAGAR/CHENNAI: St.Thomas JSO Church, Annanagar is proud to announce that the new church building construction is going on and the first of June,2012 was a memorable day for us. A memorable event took place on this day. Erection of the main cross on the top of the church building was solemnized after the holy Quorbana on this day. A large number of faithful witnessed the solemn ceremony . It was a new experience to the members of the church especially, the younger generation who didn’t have the opportunity to witness such a rare function. Rev. Fr. Aby Alias, Puthenveetil, Vicar offered the Holy Qurbana assisted by Rev. Fr. Siby Paul, Kayanadu , Rev. Fr. Johnson Koshy and Dn. Jalil. The event was blessed by Very. Rev. K J John, Corepiscopa and Rev.Fr. Aby Paul with their presence.We hope to complete the new church building by end of this year. Allare requested to pray for its speedy completion.
